Grow Your Hair With Box Braids

So I recently got this strong urge to switch up my look a bit. I’ve been natural my entire life and either I wore my hair curly or straight. Whenever I would see people with braids, I would always low-key want some, but I never thought I could pull it off. One night I was in my bed on Pinterest pinning hairstyles to my ‘hair’ board and it was a done deal, I decided I was getting box braids. Luckily, I was able to get them done for ‘the free’ because my mom did them, might I add that my head was so sore afterwards like omg! I’m on this journey to grow my natural hair longer and this is the perfect hairstyle for that, so I plan to keep them in for about three weeks and there should be about an inch or two of new growth, which i’m excited about because who doesn’t want their hair to grow? Check out my braid growth regimen below:

🔑 HOW-TO CLEAN  (Do not wash the actual braids in the shower because they will look extra frizzy, but you should always wash your scalp.)

  • I spray my scalp with a spray water bottle mixed with a little shampoo and conditioner, this cleans your scalp from all of the build up.
  • I always clean any gel I put on my edges with water at the end of the day.

  • I oil my scalp every night with an oil mixture, which is major key for growth!
  • I apply braid spray plus a leave in conditioner throughout my hair every other day
  • I put Castor Oil on my edges every night, which is major key also!

  • Sleep with a scarf around your edges so they will be slick rick in the morning.
  • Leave them down, do not put them in a ponytail/bun while you sleep because it will pull on your edges.
  • Put braids in a long silk bonnet so they can stay fresh and non-frizzy.

  1. I love your hair! I had gotten box braids as well about 2 years ago and I fell in love with them! I wanted to have them in longer but the max I did was about 2 months. I always thought I wouldnt look good with them but as soon as they went in, girl I was feeling myslef and felt cute! I want to get them again tho! I did make a blog post about them if you want to check it out!
