→ How To Create A Digital Vision Board & What The Hype Is All About?

Vision boards and writing down goals will forever be a check mark, a major yes, but first off, what is a ‘vision board’? I’m sure many of you have heard about the term and the hype surrounding it. But it is exactly what is sounds like, you’re taking your visions and putting them on a board, so everyday you wake up or go to bed you see them, so you don’t forget them. Now, if you want to know how to organize your vision board tailored to what you want, then keep reading.

It’s all about inspiration here people. The reason behind all of this is to help you and inspire you, as you take the necessary steps to achieve your goals. I am a very visual person, and I found out that when I need inspiration the most I turn to pictures and videos. It really helps my motivation and overall mood. I get inspired by so many things weather it’s; people, food, music, style, quotes, art, books ect. When you want more for yourself, you take the steps to get that. Now … start with a damn vision board.

Digital Or Physical Vision Boards?

There are two types of vision boards you can create, digital or physical. Both are absolutely okay. A physical vision board is when you go out and buy a pretty board/frame and you cut out pictures from magazines, or print out from the computer that inspire you, arrange them a board and hang it up, somewhere you can see it each day. It can be time consuming and in my opinion like, who buys magazines anymore? If people are buying magazines, i’m sure they wouldn’t want to cut it up. Wasting paper. 😉

Now digital boards… digital boards is where it’s at. Pinterest is my favorite digital media platform to spend time. It’s like a big digital board. I take images off of Pinterest (follow my Pinterest by the way) and add them into a collage maker. It’s quick and easy, you can take screenshoots, save it as your background, study it each day and have it forever. It’s also easy to go in and change or add something.

How To Organize A Vision Board?

The organization of a vision board is important. You have to have photos on it that have some sort of meaning. The way you can organize it is by categories, for example: a section for career goals, relationship goals, travel goals, family goals, friendship goals, mental health goals, house goals, fitness/health goals, car goals, inspiring quotes and fashion goals. You can also make several different ones, like a single vision board for each area of the area I listed above. I also create it a year at a time, because a year gives enough time for you to complete half, majority or all of your vision. Mind you, there is no rush and everyone’s path is different. Just work towards your goals everyday … you know.

It’s so easy to get tangled up in life’s mess and lose sight of the bigger picture and to be honest, it’s a roller coaster. But I think the beauty in all of this is that our lives are up to us. We have have to create our future… go out into the world and take what we want. When you have a vision… you go for it.

Advice To The Woman Entering Her Early 20’s. | It’s My Mf Birthday!

As I sit here in quarantine (confused as to how we even got here), I realized that my birthday is in a couple of hours and time is flying by. So i’m on my laptop, during my favorite time of the day (night time), in my pajamas, with a glass of wine, listening to music on my floor, in the vibe, when I had this brilliant idea to write a blog post. I wanted to write a “think-piece” if you will, to the woman out there … just like me, entering her 20’s, or already in her 20’s and give some advice on everything i’ve learned so far.

Congratulations, you’ve made it to (or through) your twenties. You’re here, you’re still alive. But, as we all know, everything that glitters isn’t always gold. Ladies, I struggled during the first half of this whole “20’s decade ordeal.” There are a few things I wish I could go back and change, and things I wish I knew. I’ve learned a lot by watching and listening to (wise) people older than me. And my blog is all about inspiration, so here are some things i’ve learned so far.

#1.) Be Grateful & Humble.

First off, I think every year added on to your life should be celebrated and you should show gratitude. It’s easy to get caught up in the ‘suckiness’ of life sometimes and to take the little things for granted. But I think when you show gratitude and humbleness, everything you want comes to you with ease. Over the years I’ve learned, anything and anyone can be taken from you in a split second. So be appreciative, be grateful … humble yourself.

#2.) Don’t Be Broke.

This one makes me cringe. We live in a time where it’s all about flexing on other people. Showing off what you have and laughing at what the other people don’t. I live in Houston, and this city is teeming with perpetrators. Dior shoes, but bad credit scores. Look at it this way, your twenties is for you to build … BUILD PEOPLE. Save your money, live below your means, take on investing as a hobby. Work your 9-5 and have a side hustle. There is nothing wrong with that. Pay off debt. Nothing makes my skin crawl more, than talking to older people in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, struggling to make ends meet and complaining about how they don’t have enough money and wish they would’ve done things differently financially.

#3.) Don’t End Up Bitter & Life-less.

This is the one. I have met people older than me that have ended up … boring, bitter and weird. Every time they open their mouth it’s something negative or depressing. There’s no excitement to their lives. They settled for the ‘picture perfect’ and ‘cookie cutter’ lifestyle, but lowkey hate that life. They didn’t live and ended up regretting it. I was guilty of this, because this was once me (mentally, I was going through alot though). No matter what, you have to make a promise to yourself, and do whatever it takes to NEVER end up ‘the bitter old boring lady.’ And as cliche as it might sound, only do things that ignite your soul and gets your adrenaline going.

#4.) Take Care Of Y.O.U. First.

Self care is always and will always be the major key. Self care to me is physical, so like getting your nails, hair and lashes done ect., but it is also mental, so trying to get a grip on that childhood trauma and understanding how you are in relationships and how you can fix you, is important. This right here, is an investment … in yourself. There are so many people walking around drowning and sulking in their inner problems and it’s hard for them to exude a true radiant beauty on the outside when inside it’s an ugly mess.

#5.) You Are Your Surroundings.

Be picky about who you choose to be around and who you give your time to. I am guilty because I used to have a hard time deciphering who was trifiling and who was legit. It’s so so so so important to only surround yourself with good people that elevate you in some way. If you feel like a person is not your type of human and they are being weird, distance yourself. You will literally gain nothing, by being around them. I mean… nothing. It’s easier said than done, but you’ll eventually get there.

#6.) Don’t Take Things Personal & Let The Past Be The Past.

Monica, said it best guys. When other people do shady things, it’s not a reflection on you. People do things because they want to and if you take every little thing personal, you will be disappointed. Don’t hold on to grudges and let things roll off of your back. Say what you need to say right there in that moment to that person’s face. Don’t wait and definitely don’t hesitate. Also, leave the past in the past. Stop going back to what god is forcibly trying to remove.

Now, I don’t have all the answers to this thing called life, but i’ve seen some things and i’ve learned. So, to that young woman, entering her 20 somethings … confused … unguided and figuring it all out. You’re not alone and it’s not a walk in the park honey. Keep doing you, but play it smart. ♥

I have been thinking about writing a post like this for quite awhile, because it’s so relevant to my current life. As you can tell by the title we’re going to be chatting about leaving the past… in the past. You guessed it. Bare with me as I drag myself for a little bit (which is good sometimes because it pushes me to where I need to be).

I have this thing where I can’t let the past go. I’m terrified to move on, because then i’ll be walking into the unknown. And either the next chapter goes very good or it goes very bad and I’m not sure if I’m prepared to take such a gamble in life. I know, it’s like, if you don’t take risk, then you’re going to stay stagnant in life and how are you ever going to grow? Calm down, i’m self-reflecting.

Not to tie this into dating … but to tie this into dating lol. Recently, at the beginning of this year, the universe slapped me in the back of the head. I had an epiphany. So I found myself talking to an old flame from back in the day. Ya’ll this was my boo okay, I could not picture my life without him in it. We stopped talking for some years after college because of the distance and because we weren’t really ready for all that at the moment, but during that hiatus, I missed him. The dating scene was garbage and I just kept thinking of him and our chemistry, my old bae, the one that I meet at the concert that one night. Long story short, we managed to find each other again and hit off just like old times. We stopped talking once again, bc he had a big secret this time, but I just let it be, because it was what it was.

But i’m nosey asl and there was no way I could just sit there and let my boo pass me by, I wanted to know what he was hiding. He eventually told me the news (& omg can you say ‘heartbreak’), but me being … well me, we hit it off once again lmao! And this time we even had a little relationship! & I’m sure you can guess what happens next, it did not work out. Like at this point, I knew we weren’t meant to be. I was just forcing things at this point, like the universe didn’t even have to send me anymore signs. I was good.

I hate that my connection to this topic has to be tied into dating, because there’s so much more to life, but unfortunately it is. When you go digging around in the past, hoping that something or someone has changed 9/10 it hasn’t. When the past calls, most of the time it has nothing new to say. You’re better off, looking forward to your new future, whatever that might be.

To truly understand this whole ‘leaving the past behind concept’, I had to compare it using an analogy. Imagine yourself walking around your house taking the trash out. This is all of the stuff you’re completely done with. You put it in the trash bag, then put it into the dumpster and rolled it out to the curb for the dumpster truck to take it off somewhere and dump it into a landfill. When you roll the dumpster back in, it’s done with. You don’t sit and dwell on where those pieces of trash are going to end up, wanting those pieces of trash back in your life or how those pieces of trash are doing out there in the world? You just don’t, they’ve served their purpose. It’s easy to let it go, it’s minimal.

That’s how life should be when people, relationships, friendships, jobs, cities and experiences don’t serve you anymore. Let it go, move on and be optimistic for what’s to come next.
